How Does Ethnnocentricity Cause Conflict?

The general meaning of ethnocentricity is to judge a person by his or her personal background and or culture. Stereotyping is a synonym. When the British came to Australia and met the Aboriginals, both cultures started to observe and study the other culture. Both cultures thought the other group was weird. They were not used to meeting people from very different areas and backgrounds. The British thought they were much superior and advanced compared to the Aboriginals. The Aboriginals were baffled by their new technology, places they created to live in(houses. Alot of conflict can be made if one single man or woman makes a mistake. The other group would take it as an example as what his/her group behaves like. The british might have easily and willingly took over the aboriginals' home because they thought they were animals. They didn't think they them as humans with rights. Since parents want their children to be safe, they might warn them of the other group and what they do. This might go on for several generations which then creates a mental and even physical conflict between the two.

Julius Caesar Presentation

Context
This shows Decius trying to provoke Caesar to follow him to the Senate. Decius' mission was to get Caesar so he may be killed by the conspirators. However Calpurnia has dreamt an omen of Caesar dying. Decius has to twist Calpurnia's dream if he wants to get Caesar to follow.

The passage shows the difference between Caesar's private life and public life. He shows pride, confidence and courage when in public. But while in private, Caesar is wary about omens and shows a belief of superstition. This is shown by his worry of Calpurnia's dream. Caesar suddenly changes character when he was present in front of Decius. This gives characterization of Caesar and takes away sympathy for Caesar. Decius changes Calpurnia's omen into a dream which was just misinterpreted. Caesar will look cowardly if he doesn't go to the Senate. He also is worried that he will lose power because the Senate will might change their minds as Decius says.

DECIUS BRUTUS

Most mighty Caesar, let me know some cause,
Lest I be laugh'd at when I tell them so.

CAESAR

The cause is in my will: I will not come;
That is enough to satisfy the senate.
But for your private satisfaction,
Because I love you, I will let you know:
Calpurnia here, my wife, stays me at home:
She dreamt to-night she saw my statua,
Which, like a fountain with an hundred spouts,
Did run pure blood: and many lusty Romans
Came smiling, and did bathe their hands in it:
And these does she apply for warnings, and portents,
And evils imminent; and on her knee
Hath begg'd that I will stay at home to-day.

DECIUS BRUTUS

This dream is all amiss interpreted;
It was a vision fair and fortunate:
Your statue spouting blood in many pipes,
In which so many smiling Romans bathed,
Signifies that from you great Rome shall suck
Reviving blood, and that great men shall press
For tinctures, stains, relics and cognizance.
This by Calpurnia's dream is signified.

CAESAR

And this way have you well expounded it.

DECIUS BRUTUS

I have, when you have heard what I can say:
And know it now: the senate have concluded
To give this day a crown to mighty Caesar.
If you shall send them word you will not come,
Their minds may change. Besides, it were a mock
Apt to be render'd, for some one to say
'Break up the senate till another time,
When Caesar's wife shall meet with better dreams.'
If Caesar hide himself, shall they not whisper
'Lo, Caesar is afraid'?
Pardon me, Caesar; for my dear dear love
To our proceeding bids me tell you this;
And reason to my love is liable.

CAESAR

How foolish do your fears seem now, Calpurnia!
I am ashamed I did yield to them.
Give me my robe, for I will go.

My Learner Profile

I learn best when I focus on details. I process information mainly by analysis, verbalization and writing. I need structured and sequenced learning. I need to be calm and not stressed because I would not be able to see the big picture. Learning with help of language (both oral and written) will help my learning. Learning step by step with visual and auditory instructions will help my learning. My profile says I would have a hard time accessing the gestalt hemisphere is I am under stress. I would like my teachers to know that I am not a 100% sure about being an A profile. I think I sometimes only see the big picture in certain problems or scenes. Positive and enjoyable learning usually helps me learn faster and better. An integrative balance of art, music, freeform movement and interpersonal skills combined with cognitive endeavors will be highly beneficial. I also appreciate rewards, gives me motivation.

La Primavera by Botticelli

La Primavera or 'Allegory of Spring' was a painting made by Sandro Botticelli in the year 1482. This is one of the most famous paintings made in the Renaissance era. It was done on a flat panel of wood. The tecnhique known as 'Tempera' or oil painting was used to preserve the life of the painting. The tecnhique was also used to show precision in the art.

This painting shows minds of great people starting to grow and show. Art such as La Primavera were new to the people in Renaissance Italy because they used to always show art as a story about the church or at least about an event in reality. But this painting revolutionized the way artists paint by showing the beauty of the human mind.

This painting is about Venus and her people celebrating the beginning of it. This is not religious or realistic proving that it is fantasy from mythology stories. The way the mythical characters dress might also have represented the trend back in Renaissance Italy. Other than the stories it tells, this painting also uses techniques such as anatomical accuracy and sfamto which was new to the people in Italy back then. This also shows the innovation from art being about religous stories to beauty and expression.

In conclusion, La Primavera by Sandro Boticelli is an excelent example of what happened during the Renaissance as it moved from the dullness to creating beautiful pieces of art such as this.

Driving Force of The Renaissance

In my group we discussed which driving force would be the most crucial to the Renaissance. We have concluded with Trading and Banking being the driving force that is what makes the Renaissance possible. Since states and cities need to travel to other countries to trade wealth, food, etc. , trading and banking led to explorations, discovery and new knowledge. Another example of the cruciality in trading and banking would be the usage of money. Cities need money to develop and it can gain alot of money through trading. Banking is also used to gain money, which is how patrons got rich, and so they can invest on art, buildings that wasn't thought of before the Renaissance.

This I believe

I Believe In Music. Music definitely changed my life for the better. It helps me when I'm moody. I think music is one of the best things about life. So I believe in music. Every single day of my life, I listen to music. Usually from my iPhone, computer, etc. But even when I'm out on a camping trip or I forgot to bring my music player, I make music. I can use my mouth, I use my hands, feet, tongue and anything else that I can make it with. That is also why I learn to play music. I play bass, guitar, drums, etc. That is the beauty of music, it's everywhere. And music can also affect your life in different ways. You can gain friends from music. You can gain popularity. You can gain money and so much more.

The type of music you play and/or listen to, really shows who you are. If a person listen's to Metal, it shows their personality. Music can also change how a person acts and how the person dresses. Music creates drama, gossip, fun and can also be very educational.

Even if someone was deaf, he or she would still be able to make music. He or she won't be able to hear the music he plays, but making music and knowing that you have talent is good to know. That guy can also perform and watch as the people applaud for him or her. Also, other than being everything I justed listed, music is also human-like. They are all different, there's different lengths, different volumes. They get old and die off, there will always be new ones. Music basically, describes life. It's indescribable, even with a 500 paged book.

So after listing all these examples, it probably shows that I really, really believe in Music. That's why one of my favorite quotes is "No Music, No Life" (Author Unknown). Music really helps me with almost anything. I will never be able to go through a day in my whole life without any signs of music or anything relating to music. So basically, I believe in Music.
